Improving THE relationship with
yourself
At MotherlandCo., we provide transformative mental health care that centers the reproductive, racial, and relational wellbeing of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, especially those who are Queer, Trans, and navigating parenthood, loss, or life transitions. Grounded in abolitionist, liberatory, and ancestral frameworks, we offer therapy, supervision, and education that honors the full humanity of our clients and communities. Our mission is to create brave, culturally-rooted spaces for healing, reclamation, and collective care—where rest is resistance, joy is medicine, and every body belongs.

What we do
We support individuals navigating the psychological and emotional impact of racism and systemic oppression, addressing both acute and cumulative stress held in the body, relationships, and sense of safety.
We provide care for emotional and mental health concerns related to fertility, pregnancy, loss, postpartum experiences, and parenting, with attention to how identity, culture, and systemic factors shape these experiences.
We support clients through periods of change, grief, and role or identity shifts—such as relationship changes, career transitions, or relocation—centering meaning-making, self-definition, and alignment with personal values.

our Framework
-
We ground healing in an analysis of systemic oppression, offering care that liberates rather than pathologizes. This includes:
Centering power, privilege, and history in the therapeutic process.
Co-creating care plans rooted in autonomy and dignity.
Naming and challenging structural violence within and beyond the clinical space.
-
We understand reproductive mental health as political, personal, and cultural. Our approach honors the full spectrum of reproductive experiences, including abortion, loss, infertility, parenting, and pleasure.
Every body has the right to informed choice, rest, and care.
We affirm all paths to and away from parenthood.
We provide care that resists medical racism and affirms bodily autonomy.
-
Healing is not a solo act—it is relational, political, and generational. We facilitate connection, reflection, and community care:
Use of sound, breath, ancestral practices, and somatics as legitimate clinical tools.
Supervision and therapy spaces that support mutual care and vulnerability.
Care models that hold rage, grief, joy, and rest with equal reverence.
-
We look to the past to inform the present and future. The principle of Sankofa teaches us to reach back and retrieve what has been forgotten, stolen, or suppressed. At the same time, Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—reminds us that our humanity is bound in the humanity of others. We heal not in isolation but in relationship and responsibility to one another.
Clinical practices rooted in Indigenous, African, and diasporic traditions.
Valuing storytelling, spiritual practice, and cultural wisdom as evidence.
Honoring Black queer futures as sacred, possible, and urgent.
Embracing collective identity, shared accountability, and radical interdependence.
